Jacquart NV Brut de Nominée (Champagne)

Mostly 1996, but a nonvintage nonetheless, reluctant aromas of pear and mandarin orange peek through and at first seem to promise a wine that is substantial, but slow to unfold. But the finish is weirdly sour and flat, with a metallic aftertaste. Paul Gregutt
