Jean-Claude et Nicolas Fayolle 2017 La Cuvée Nicolas (Crozes-Hermitage)

Like this producer's La Rochette bottling, there's an invigorating freshness to black currant and cherry flavors in this ripe but cutting Syrah. Medium-bodied and zippy in style, it offers penetrating black fruit juxtaposed by perfumed swathes of violet florals, anise and tea leaves. A lovely wine that's enjoyable young but should drink at peak through 2025 at least. Anna Lee C. Iijima
