Appropriate to this wine's name, a vein of singed earth trails from nose to finish, mingling into delicate notes of vanilla, anise and black pepper. Penetrating flavors of preserved black cherry and plum are plump but fresh, edged by lifted acidity and fine, persistent tannins. More approachable in youth than Colombo's other 2017 Cornas, it can be enjoyed now through 2035. Anna Lee C. Iijima
