Made in small batches from old vines on the Barry family's Lodge Hill property, this is a full-figured, richly fruited wine that, despite some bottle age, is still youthful. Plump plum, currants, bay leaf, eucalyptus, cigar box and licorice characters are cinched with hefty, chalk-textured tannins. There's concentration, acidity and length, but this needs a decant and a slab of protein if drinking now. Christina Pickard
