Joseph Drouhin 2002 Clos des Mouches (Beaune)

In a bit of an awkward stage now, the fruit seems to have closed in on itself, while the toasty, caramelly oak sits on the surface. Swirling brings out ripe peaches, roasted nuts and develops a slightly tannic feel on the finish, so cellar few years until the wine emerges from hibernation. At that time, it may deserve an even higher score.
