Kaesler 2005 Avignon Red (Barossa Valley)

A blend of approximately 40% each Grenache and Shiraz with 20% Mataro, Kaelser's 2005 Avignon offers up explosive notes of licorice and plum, hints of lighter stone fruits, like peach or apricot, then finishes with blackberries, cola and vanilla. Lush and smooth, an opulent mouthful for near-term consumption. Joe Czerwinski
