Ken Brown 2016 Rita's Crown Vineyard Chardonnay (Sta. Rita Hills)

Tightly wound aromas of dried white flowers, grapefruit peel, lanolin and a hint of botanicals mix with a waft of oak smoke on the nose of this bottling by pioneer Ken Brown. The palate is loaded with mineral character, from gravel to crushed rock, yet there are also strokes of honeysuckle and Meyer lemon pith throughout. Matt Kettmann
