90pointsKenneth-Crawford 2004 Babcock Vineyard Pinot Noir (Sta. Rita Hills)

Here's a dense, intricately layered Pinot with an earthy spray of sage, dill and thyme to the cherries, plums, blackberries and coffee-cola fruit. The wine has the weight and texture almost of a heavier Rhône variety, like Grenache. But the silky mouthfeel is all Pinot Noir. Good now–2010.
