King Estate 2017 Kennel Vineyard Pinot Noir (Willamette Valley)

This wine offers tart red fruit with plenty of power. Strawberry, raspberry and cherry are in the mix, buoyed by sappy acidity and peppery spice. It spent 18 months in 35% new French barrels, but there is little impression of barrel toast. Rather, the aging has helped to file down any rough tannic edges. Paul Gregutt
