Kiona 1997 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon (Yakima Valley)

This is 100% Cabernet from a 25-year-old estate vineyard. There's plenty of vanilla and cassis in the nose, with some pickled volatile acidity lurking about. Firm and earthy, with a hint of mint and some dark, toasty streaks running through the red fruit. High-toned and slightly hot in the finish. Paul Gregutt
