Knudsen 2017 Reserve Pinot Noir (Dundee Hills)

There's moderate concentration here, with a mix of black cherry fruit, black olive highlights and a thick vein of espresso. The fruit-barrel balance is proportionate, with both components showing a lot of power. A third of the barrels were new. As the vines gain more age this will be a reserve to watch closely; for now it's a well-made wine that lacks reserve power. It finishes with a lick of caramel. Paul Gregutt
