Lamborn Family Vineyards 2009 Vintage VII Cabernet Sauvignon (Howell Mountain)

Cellar Selection

Those accustomed to Bordeaux might object to this 100% Cabernet's overt fruitiness, but there's no disputing its power. It detonates in the mouth in an explosion of blackberries, cassis and oak, with an intriguing note of green olives. The winemaker was the celebrated Heidi Barrett, and the wine shows her signature of ripely extracted fruit, a voluptuous texture and significant alcohol, not to mention the high price. Age it until 2017, and it should still be developing complexity in 2025.
