Fruit for this wine comes from some of the oldest vines at Yamhill Vineyard, planted in 1983. Fermented in 80% 500-liter neutral French oak with the rest in concrete cube, the aromas offer notes of melon, hazelnut and pear, with whiffs of banana chip as it settles into bottle. The flavors show depth, intensity and layering. A vibrant vein of acidity runs through it, adding tension to the flavors. It's both hedonistically and intellectually enthralling. Sean P. Sullivan
