Lapostolle 2011 Collection Las Kuras Syrah (Cachapoal Valley)

Blackberry and herbal notes fold in tarry scents. This feels thick, dense and chewy, with modest tannins. Wild berry, briar patch, herb and toast flavors blacken up on the finish, leaving toasty bitterness and espresso notes. Ultimately this is a complex Syrah with a sauvage character. Drink through 2016. Michael Schachner
