At first, this wine smells a bit burnt. But airing allows this gran reserva to show mature aromas of grilled beef, dry leaves and spice. Hard tannins make for a rubbery mouthfeel, but savory flavors of leafy plum and berry fruits bring it around. A finish with baked fruit and chocolate flavors concludes this classical Rioja. Drink through 2025.
