Lawson's Dry Hills 2019 Pinot Noir (Marlborough)

This medium weight Pinot is quite shy at the moment. Even after vigorous swirling, there's a squeak of red and purple fruit and a peep of baking spice, but it's keeping its hand close to its chest. The palate is similarly closed with lifted acidity and tightly wound, talc-like tannins. It likely needs lengthy time in a decanter or more time in bottle for this wine, from historic Marlborough producer, to show its charms. Christina Pickard
