Layer Cake 2017 Malbec (Mendoza)

Plum and berry aromas are harsh at first, then more true with airing. A rubbery palate borders on astringent, while plum, prune and blackberry flavors finish abruptly due to dry tannins. This is a more honest and clean Malbec than prior years when this wine smelled and tasted overworked and too much like its name. Michael Schachner
