Very woody, with distinct aromas of vanilla and sawdust. The tight-knit palate has hidden black fruit and lots of bitter chocolate, the latter courtesy of some heavy barrel char. If the dark elements of barrel aging; i.e., charcoal and espresso, turn you on, then give this a go. But if not, the advice here is probably to steer clear. —M.S.
