Leconfield 2017 Richard Hamilton Little Road Shiraz (McLaren Vale)

Kirsch, chocolate, Christmas spice and black-pepper aromas lead the way on this wine. They're all appealing, even if they do seem to come more from the oak than anything. The palate is big but balanced, those kirsch-like bitter almond and cherry notes are lifted by crunchy acidity and gripped by dusty tannins and a good lick of oak spice. Christina Pickard
