89pointsLeelanau Cellars 2016 Merlot (Leelanau Peninsula)

Vibrant cherry candy defines the almost sweet smelling nose, with additional notes of fresh strawberry, fresh cherry, white pepper and saline. Delightful and concentrated, flavors of bright strawberry, red cherry and gala apple meld with dried herbs and pink peppercorns. Juicy acidity is balanced by firm crushed velvet tannin on the palate. The fruit remains energetic through the finish slowly extinguished by the tannic structure. Fiona Adams
