Lepe 2017 Chardonnay (Carmel Valley)

Seared orange-rind and toasty sourdough aromas make for a slightly wild but intriguing nose on this bottling from Salinas native Miguel Lepe. There's a lemon-peel tang to the sip, where hints of cream, apple and pineapple converge. Matt Kettmann
