Librandi 1998 Gravello Red (Calabria)

This complex but modern blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Gaglioppo features plenty of toasty oak, red berries and vanilla with a honeyed overlay that's akin to maple syrup. The fruit turns darker in the mouth, developing blueberry and blackberry flavors. A long, tangy finish bodes well for short-term (2–4 years) aging.
