Limus 2018 Tidal Red (Mount Gambier)

Editors' Choice

This young, natural producer (Kyatt Dixon) is new to the Aussie wine scene, but if his first few vintages are anything to go by, he clearly knows what he's doing. There's zero additives here, including sulfur, yet this Pinot-Merlot blend is clean, stable and bursting with personality. Like sinking into a your favorite armchair, aromas of raspberry, red currant, wild strawberry, dried rose and pencil lead draw you in, while a tight rein of spicy tannins keeps you there. Acid hounds rejoice for there's plenty to tingle the tongue, but make no mistake, there's flesh on this wine's bones that could give it a life in the bottle for up to another decade.
