Liparita 2001 Merlot (Napa Valley)

The aroma's the best part now, alluringly rich and inviting in currants, oak and cocoa. But in the mouth, its way too tannic. The underlying black-cherry flavors are shut down. Balanced enough to improve, though. Try after 2007.
