Living Roots 2018 Grevillea Grenache (McLaren Vale)

This vintage doesn't hit home quite as well as the last one did. It's reductive to start, and takes some vigorous swirling before the egg and onion notes start to blow off. When it does, the red and blue fruit, flowers and spice notes are quite pure and pretty. The acidity on the palate has pointy elbows but they don't manage to knock over the juicy fruit and textured tannins, which have a lovely, comforting grip to them. Christina Pickard
