A tiny winery in the backwater burg of Mazama, Lost River is making some of the best, affordable boutique wines in Washington. Don't look for a fancy label, but get a load of the fruit and style in the bottle. This is an elegant merlot showcase, a perfectly shaped expression of supple berry and cherry flavor, tart, vivid and racy. Lean, not mean; it's a classic.
