Louis Royer 53 Cask Strength

This “high strength” and full-bodied VSOP is intended as a mixer, and you'd do well to heed that intent. Although it has plenty of flavor—orange peel and caramel, with a suggestion of anise on the finish—you're not going to taste it for long if you insist on sipping straight up: the overwhelming alcohol is just too aggressive. Add it to cocktails, but sparingly: this brandy has bite. Kara Newman
