Love & Squalor 2014 Riesling (Willamette Valley)

Some hints of diesel spark up the nose, along with a wash of honeycomb. This is densely flavorful, with apple, lemon, mint, cracker and white pepper components punching through. Buoyed by ample acidity, and lightly touched with a hint of residual sugar, this potent wine puts boxing gloves on Riesling and goes for the TKO. That said, it is not a wine to cellar, but rather to drink up quickly and enjoy its quirky power. Paul Gregutt
