M. Chapoutier 2016 Le Meal (Hermitage)

Riper and darker in fruit than the producer's other Hermitage bottlings, Le Meal offers intense blackberry and plum notes baked by the sun and accented by layers of anise, black pepper and allspice. It's a richer, more opulent style of Hermitage but maintains an undertow of granite and fine, firm tannins. The wine is peak now through 2035. Anna Lee C. Iijima
