The 2020 vintage was a bit all over the place in the Yarra and this Pinot, from a normally top-notch producer, is showing a little awkwardly, for the moment, anyway. The high-toned aromas of freshly picked grapes at crush time with florals and spice are raw and appealing, but there's something more rustic and barnyard-like that creeps in at the back, pulling attention. The palate offers straightforward freshness and finishes with a lingering funk. Christina Pickard
