MacPhail 2012 Gap's Crown Vineyard Pinot Noir (Sonoma Coast)

Cellar Selection

Punchy, sizable tannins make this wine a beast at first. It's dry on the palate, yet sultry, well-defined layers of dark cherry and toasty vanilla-oak manage to persist around seasonings of minty dried herb and cinnamon. From a well-known vineyard high atop what is called the Petaluma Gap, it's characteristically robust and age-worthy, able to cellar through 2022. Virginie Boone
