Marcel Trépout Apotheose 30-Year-Old Armagnac

The bouquet is relatively toasty/roasted with sturdy scents of walnut paste, apple butter, black pepper and pipe tobacco. The palate entry is maple-like and deeply honeyed; the midpalate adds notes of cocoa, coffee, dark caramel and bacon fat. Ends tight, generous, decadent and unabashedly sweet. This style is not for everyone but I'm an admirer. P.P.
