This Merlot is super and it's from central Tuscany, which makes it a literal super Tuscan. It's dense and dark, with brooding notes of cola, damp earth and tobacco. The texture is fine, really fine, and the manner in which the natural flavor has been extracted yet not overblown is masterful. Very luxurious and plush; when you drink this you know it's meant to be the real thing among so-called super Tuscans. —M.S.
