Margerum 2010 Grenache (Santa Barbara County)

Editors' Choice

Grenache is so difficult to perfect that few wineries even attempt it. But here, Margerum gets it right. It's a transparent variety, so that even the slightest difficulties show through, but this bottling is dry, silky, light-bodied and utterly delicious. The raspberry, red currant and mocha flavors have a hint of sweet smoky oak.
