Marques de Griñon 1999 Dominio de Valdepusa Syrah (Vino da Mesa de Toledo)

There's just something our tasters found hard to handle in this Syrah, made under Michel Rolland's direction, in central Spain. An odd note described variously as fishy, algae-like or varnishy covered the dark-berry fruit. An ashy element on the palate and a thin, oily finish with light cherry fruit peeking through closes it. Tasted twice.
