Martin's Lane 2016 Fritzi's Vineyard Pinot Noir (Okanagan Valley)

Fritzi's is the top tier Pinot from this winery, perhaps because it has the oldest vines in the single-vineyard collection. These were planted in 1997 as many Okanagan Valley vineyards were being repurposed and updated. A large golden ear adorns the label, and surely there's a story to go with it, but for now it's a mystery. A mix of berry fruit flavors with a pungent and penetrating vein of pine tar punch down through the palate. It's full and chewy, with moderately astringent tea-flavored tannins. Paul Gregutt
