Inky violet to the eye, this wine has a nose of black currant, roasted red pepper and forest floor. A strong note of clove is persistent on the taste buds, alongside flavors of black cherry, pomegranate, eucalyptus, smoke and brambles. Mouthcoating tannins and a visceral texture are the result of aging in terra-cotta amphora. Mike DeSimone
