92pointsMasciarelli 2011 Villa Gemma Riserva (Montepulciano d'Abruzzo)

Cellar Selection

A wealth of ripe cherry, clove, toast and tobacco carries to the linear, focused palate. While this wine is held together by bracing acidity and a firm grip of tannins, there's enough fruit to broaden out the midpalate and carry to the lingering cherry-skin and spice finish. Drink from 2020 for things to soften a bit. Alexander Peartree
