Inky garnet in the glass, this wine has a nose of brambly fruits of the wood and black olive paste. Grippy tannins provide a backdrop for flavors of black currant, dark plums, bittersweet chocolate and dried hillside herbs. Bright fruit outweighs heavy tannins on the palate and carries on into the enduring finish. Mike DeSimone
