Matzinger Davies 2018 Unabridged Sauvignon Blanc (Columbia Gorge (OR))

Fruit for this wine comes from a vineyard east of Mosier, Oregon, grown on the banks of the Columbia River. Fermented 50% whole cluster and aged in neutral oak, the aromas bring notes of wet clay and herb, seeming a bit muddled. The palate is fuller in feel and acid driven, with lees notes throughout. There are good pieces but they don't all fit together completely, with the variety a bit difficult to place. Sean P. Sullivan
