McCrea makes five different Syrahs, and the style here, which he calls “our Shiraz,” uses American oak barrels to imitate the big, smoky flavors of Australian wines. This is a powerhouse, tannic and young, packed with ripe black fruits set against delicious, toasty oak. —P.G.
