McWilliam's 2017 McW Reserve 660 Cabernet Sauvignon (Hilltops)

This red from the obscure Hilltops region of New South Wales is a deep crimson in color. It's ripe and dense on the nose, with blackberry, cherry and black currant cordial backed by hints of tarmac and violet. The fruit on the palate is plump but less plush than you'd expect from the nose. The texture is grainy, and tannins are chewy and seemingly oak derived. Christina Pickard
