Melrose 2016 Parker's Pinot Noir (Umpqua Valley)

Named for the winery owners, not the well-known wine critic, this barrel selection has fine, spicy red fruits, but exceptionally astringent, drying tannins. Flavors of tea leaves and cola play against sweet baking spices. This should be paired with a fatty protein, such as wild caught salmon, and drunk over the next two or three years. Paul Gregutt
