Merry Edwards 2004 Pinot Noir (Sonoma Coast)

Editors' Choice

What a roll Merry Edwards is on. This is a basic, appellation series Pinot, but it's as good or better as most other wineries' single-vineyard bottlings, showing a dry, rich, acidic, earthy character in its youth. But there's enough cherry cola fruit to drink now, if you decant. Chewy and complex, it should improve for five years and hold for another five.
