Smoky, peppery aromas top this firmly structured and oak-forward wine, while black cherries and blackberries offer good intensity on the palate. Firm tannins give a grippy texture while the wine reveals echoing oak spices like cinnamon, clove and wood char. Aged in 57% new French barrels, this special, small-lot wine shows a rowdy side at this stage, but will be fascinating to follow as it ages. Best from 2026–2036. Jim Gordon
