Merryvale 1999 Reserve Merlot (Napa Valley)

A dark, young, chewy wine, obviously capable of aging. Shows iodine, earth, herb and blackberry-tart aromas, and is a bit tough in the mouth. Yet it's very classy and stylish. Dry tannins coat the palate, masking rich fruit. This is a wine of structure rather than hedonism.
