Merryvale 2008 Merlot (Napa Valley)

A very good, impressive Merlot, if a little irregular in tannic structure. It's dry and rich in black cherries, red licorice and bacon, with a solid coating of oak. Elegant enough, but not going anywhere, so drink up.
