Meyer-Näkel 2013 S Spätburgunder (Ahr)

Plump, fleshy black cherry and berry flavors command this ripe, lusciously textured wine. It's unabashedly forward in fruit, but is still an elegant, nuanced wine shaded by lingering tones of spice, crushed rock and smoke. Cranberry acidity extends through a long, persistent finish. Ready to drink now but should improve through 2021. Anna Lee C. Iijima
