Meyer-Näkel 2017 Blauschiefer Spätburgunder (Ahr)

Editors' Choice

Seductive notes of smoke, rose petal and forest berries introduce this very concentrated, elegantly composed Pinot Noir. Sourced from blue slate sites in the Ahr, it's earthen, mineral nuances are thrilling. Touches of toast and caramel linger alongside very fine, feathery tannins. Ready now but will improve through 2030 and hold longer still. Anna Lee C. Iijima
