Cassis and spice lead this medium-bodied, garnet-red selection from Hudson Valley's Millbrook. There's some depth and backbone on the palate, with a touch of lightly oaky vanilla, plum and blueberry to add to the mix, but the finish is lean and overall, the wine's impression is somewhat fleeting. Nonetheless, would pair well with roasted meats and poultry dishes. Susan Kostrzewa
